What is RBS in construction

RBS

RBS (Royal Building System) is a Canadian construction system which uses PVC extruded panels in different sizes and length for your project.

this method of construction is a kind of semi pre-fabricated, and the reason I used this word is because you still need to do some construction and technical installments in order to make the building ready, but still RBS is one of the fast construction framing system

as a person who worked in this field and gained experience of this way, need to mention, RBS needs trained architects who work directly with the RBS style modular design and manufacturing of every single components that you want to use in the building. As a general check list whenever you start a job, have to conduct research about what exactly client needs, what is the location condition and so on

RBS brings flexibility for both designer and construction engineers because for the regular and up to mid-size buildings you do not need provide columns and another structural components to eliminate lateral and perpendicular forces, the main reason is, this system is a combination of PVC boxes with rebar and concrete and they are able to carry a huge amount of load.

but for the design part we need to spend more time, and turn our design to reliable manufacturing data sheets.
with the data that we sent to the company, they start using industrial mold to extrude PVC boxes in the preferred length and cut them based on our design, in the other word, we need to spend more time to design each components without any mistake, and finally on the jobsite, technicians just assemble them like a LEGO game.

of course it is inevitable to be 100% accurate, but designer have to know, on the job site, technicians just can do small modification just to fix and match. if everything with design part goes well, installation after foundation part, can be done in just a blink.

for the reasons early mentioned, it is beneficial to use this construction system in Ney York City, faster, cheaper and durable against any erosion, water damage, more fire tolerable, better insulation in winter and summer, but it needs architects who are familiar with this system and fully trained contractors to avoid any time and money wait on projects
